I love all animals (that why my art nearly always features animals), and I have drawn or painted quite a lot of these dogs - this time it is a picture of two Chow Chows - both are quite young - one black and one white (both sought after colours).... aren't they adorable?  I always think they look like gorgeous big old bears, but in the Wikipedia, it says they are a 'puff lion-dog'!  (Also very apt!)

Anyway - here is my coloured pencil painting - it is a painting and not a drawing because the numerous layers of blended colour that went into it make it so... it really did take quite a long time to do, but I was really happy with the result...

Chow Chow, or Chow, is a breed of dog originating from China[1], where it is referred to as Songshi Quan (Pinyin: sōngshī quǎn 松狮犬), which literally means "puffy-lion dog." It is believed that the Chow Chow is one of the native dogs used as the model for the Foo dog, the traditional stone guardians found in front of Buddhist temples and palaces.

Information re: The Sphynx (cat)

 The Sphynx (aka Canadian Hairless) is a rare breed of cat. The Sphynx appears to be a hairless cat, although it is not truly hairless. The skin should have the texture of chamois. It may be covered with very soft, fine down, which is almost imperceptible to both the eye and touch. On the ears, muzzle, tail, feet, and scrotum, a short, soft, fine hair is allowed. Lack of coat makes the cat quite warm to the touch. Whiskers and eyebrows may be present, either whole or broken, or may be totally absent. Their skin is the color their fur would be, and all the usual cat marking patterns (solid, point, van, tabby, tortie, etc) may be found in Sphynx too. People are surprised by how different their personalities are. Many describe them as part monkey, pig and human because of how intelligent, extroverted and affectionate they are.

This little black Pug caught my eye and I couldn't resist painting him!  :-)  Isn't he so cute?!

They are adorable little dogs - full of life and fun - always smiling!

Hello again!  I must say I really like this eBay Blog idea!  Its great to just come here and say a quick hi to everyone and show you my latest artwork  :-)

Continuing with my theme of Fine Art on Wood (Dogs just now, but I also intend to do horses and cats and birds over time) - I have just completed this positively adorable Saint Bernard.  Isn't he the most gorgeous thing?!  I love these dogs and think this one has the most delightful face!  The circular shaped plaque would look terrific on a small plate stand or mounted on a wall or other surface using double sided tape... what a terrific gift idea it would be for someone owned by one of these dogs!

As my first eBay blog, I am happy to share with you my latest ideas for my Art listings on eBay.

Most of my Artwork is painted or drawn on premium quality canvas or rag paper, though sometimes, I will get the urge to do something a bit different...

I have been painting some rather gorgeous dogs on wooden plaques - traditionally seen more like 'Folk Art' or 'Decorative Art' I feel that the plaques are lending themselves to my 'Fine Art' wonderfully!  The surface is smooth and lovely to paint on, and after undercoating, and then painting the design in expensive Artists quality Acrylic paint  (NOT the cheap and nasty decorative paint often seen and used) and then spraying with a gloss sealant for protection, these plaques are an eye-catching and beautiful adornment to any home. 

The first one I painted was a lovely Great Pyrenees dog - beautiful animals - large and soft and just gorgeous!  It sold almost immediately as a 'Buy it Now' to a lovely lady in Queensland.  Here it is:

I really love this design and will soon be selling it as a reproduction as prints or on tile/jewellry boxes and greeting cards and more.

I am also currently advertizing this one of a beautiful Newfoundland dog (such gorgeous creatures!)
